Former Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Estonia and one of the world’s top digital government leaders, Siim Sikkut joined us to discuss his work in transforming Estonia into a global leader in digital governance. Sikkut was instrumental in developing the country's digital infrastructure and policies during his decade-long tenure, most notably co-founding the groundbreaking e-Residency program. This initiative allows non-residents to access Estonian government services like company formation, banking, and payment processing from anywhere in the world, significantly enhancing Estonia’s global digital presence.
Sikkut has been recognized as one of the top 20 most influential figures in digital government globally by Apolitical. His leadership also extended to creating innovative projects such as the Digital Testbed Framework, which allows startups and innovators to collaborate with the Estonian government to test and refine new digital solutions. His recent book, Digital Government Excellence: Lessons from Effective Digital Leaders, published in 2022, shares insights from his experience in leading digital transformation in public sectors around the world.
